in everything from simple, ordinary objects to serious art. “My
interest in design has always been touched by magical, ancient
forms,” says David. “It was the Celts and their appreciation
for adornment that inspired me. I sense that there is a common
thread in recognizable symbols that seems to bind people together.”

“talking design.” “We relish the weekends when
we can listen to music, skim through art and architecture magazines
and sketch,” says David.
With the Cable CollectionŽ,
David Yurman communicates his recognizable signature style. His
cable pieces are trademarked, copyrighted, and stamped with his
designer hallmark. While there is clearly a common thread throughout
Yurman’s work, there is also an element of spontaneity. Within
the Cable CollectionŽ, for instance, he has managed to maintain
the classic, signature look, while reinterpreting the designs
each year. These fresh ideas satisfy the numerous collectors who
continuously build their Yurman wardrobes.
The Future
David and Sybil Yurman’s
company continues to grow at a phenomenal pace. Yurman in-store
boutiques continue to open at authorized independent jewelry stores
and select specialty stores nationwide. November, 1999 will see
the opening of the first David Yurman retail store. Looking ahead,
the Yurmans are poised to grow and branch out into the luxury
product business. With their designer status firmly in place,
additional upscale product extensions to complement their jewelry
business are in the works. Most recently, the company introduced
a line of Swiss-made fine timepieces.
